2021.09.24 20:00 ZachJanes16 Idea for Drewski to bring back UGF
I feel like a great way to bring back the UGF Pandas would be for it to be discovered that a booster of UGF had payed multiple high caliber recruits to come to UGF and that the Pandas were given the death penalty. So just basically a death penalty dynasty with UGF.

2021.09.24 20:00 zubapo Trade in offer: pay early
You guys were very helpful with my locked phone e-Sim question so here is my back up plan. I used the trade-in offer from AT&T where I’m sending my XS to get $24 off my bill every month for 3 months. Can i pay off my phone in full and still receive this credit on my bill ongoing?
My first rep told me no. The second told me I could but I’d be out $30 roughly.

2021.09.24 20:00 mrhands31 13 lessons I learned from writing a weekly adult gaming newsletter for a year
I recently wrote an article about my newsletter that I feel may be relevant to this community too. I think that my advice about writing a newsletter can apply equally as well to recording podcasts. After all, isn't an e-mail is just a podcast waiting to happen?
Here's an excerpt:
The best way to get outsized results is to be consistent in your output. Because my newsletter comes out every week, I can’t just post whenever inspiration strikes me. I have to show up again and again and tell the world about what’s been happening in adult games. It’s the news, after all.https://www.uptheretheylove.com/blog/marketing/13-lessons-from-a-year-of-naughty-news/
You might think it’s hard to talk about and promote your adult gaming newsletter. It’s really not. I’ve shown my newsletter to friends, family, coworkers, strangers, etc. Yes, in real life.
I even got a few of them to sign up!

2021.09.24 20:00 SpotOnStonks My hamster, Fluffy, passed away today
My hamster, Fluffy, passed away today. We got him from Petsmart (on sale!) on 11/20/2019, so I don’t know his exact age. I can tell he was getting older and weaker and I knew it was just a matter of time. He used to want to come out to play daily, but the past week, he just wanted to stay under his bedding and didn’t want to come out at all, except when I brought him some treats, when he’d take the treat, eat, and go to sleep right away.
I was reading how some hamsters would die in their human’s hand, and I wondered if Fluffy would even let me do that. Will I just find him in rigor mortis under his bedding? Since he’s been tamed, I never took Fluffy out of his cage unless he was ready. He would be ready after he has done his business and cleaned himself, then he’d get on my hand. But now since he was too weak to leave his cage, I thought I didn’t want to stress him and grab him when he was already so fragile. How will I give him comfort in his last moments?
This morning, when I was feeding him his blueberry treat, he pushed the blueberry away and sniffed my hand and climbed on it. I was a bit alarmed because it was daytime, and he never wants to be disturbed during the day, even during the prime of his life. I took him out of the cage and he slept on my hand, moved to my arm, slept on my arm, moved to my lap…his heart was beating so hard and sometimes he seemed like he was gasping for breath. Finally, he lay still. He looked like he was just resting but I didn’t feel his heartbeat anymore. He was gone, died 2 hours after I took him from his cage, right in my hands. It’s like he knew today was the day.
I’m so heartbroken, but at the same time, I’m amazed and find it incredible how such little bundles of joy can really love their humans back. Their lives are so short. Let’s love our hamsters with all the love we can give.
Goodbye Fluffy. We’ll always love you. Thank you for bringing us so much happiness.

2021.09.24 20:00 0x01moretime Don't stop applying! (How I got a job with no degree/certificates/formal job experience)
Hey all, posting here because I recently settled into my first legitimate job at a Cybersecurity company.
For background, I graduated HS this year, do not have any industry standard certificates, and haven't held any previous positions in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, etc...
Throughout the past few years, however, I've been incredibly proactive about gaining hands-on experience with red teaming, malware analysis, digital forensics, CTI, cryptography, PSI DSS/NIST/ISO standards, and other security concepts (The IBM CySA course is a great resource for standard practice and terminology!).
Besides CTFs and home-labs, I had also been reaching out to those in need of IR, CTI, RE, and vulnerability assessment services (as well as bug bounties) and built up my resume that way. So I have about 3 years of pro-bono consulting experience as well as volunteer work, which I was able to lean heavily upon in my resume.
I've worked with multiple cybersecurity teams on ransomware, human trafficking, blackmail, child exploitation, and other CTI investigations. I've put together more home labs than I can count, reversed various malware, attended private intelligence and security conferences, and gained a general confidence in myself and competency in Cybersec.
Despite this, after applying to entry-level position after entry-level position (for what felt like 10+ hours every day), months on end, I was ready to give up and find a more "realistic" job for myself, considering I had gotten no emails or calls back for anything I'd applied to.
Then, at the suggestion of some friends who work senior DFIR positions, I started applying for jobs that I was "under-qualified" for, but knew like the back of my hand (Ex: SOC and SIEM analyst positions shouldn't require a Master's degree or CISSP to be considered).
This made such a huge difference, and I immediately started getting messages from recruiters, as well as calls/emails back for interviews. I applied to ~350 positions that I was qualified for on-paper, and got 0 interviews or hits back for close to a year. I applied to ~40 jobs that I was under-qualified for on-paper, and got ~5 interviews within a month, ending up having to decide between multiple companies and completely flipping the situation around.
The biggest lesson that I learnt here is to be persistent and perseverant through your job application journey. Take notes during interviews, learn about the culture and what is needed/expected of an employee, and most importantly: Apply to positions you're inspired by and feel are a good fit for you, don't limit yourself to qualifications on the listing!

2021.09.24 20:00 Only-Wolverine-6104 September Child Tax Credit was late, and then it was wrong
I was one of those who did not get their child tax credit for September on time even thought I got July and August on time.
The credit just showed up today but it was $281 less than it should be.
I have three children, ages 16-13-9. My AGI is less than the $150K for married filing jointly. According to the IRS, I should get $250 for each child, $750 total.
I received $750 in July and August on time. September was late and I finally got something from the IRS today. However the amount that I received was only $469.00.
Forget calling the IRS for anything. I have called three different numbers and they all end up at the same message "Due to high call volume, we cannot process your request, please try again later, goodbye"
I tried to schedule an appointment with my local IRS location and got the same message.
At this point, the IRS is pretty much saying, "You get what you get and don't bother trying to find out any information about it, we don't want to talk to you"

2021.09.24 20:00 areyouserious88 Stretching out shirts
So, I am currently between size two and three and shirts. A three is too big and some of the size two shirts are too small. Do you have any tricks for just stretching them out a bit, I'm specifically talking about the cotton t-shirts and such. I ordered some and the size three is too big and the two needs to be stretched out.
